What should i bring to my newborn session?

Newborn sessions can be stressful. You’ve just been thrown for a loop, whether it’s your first, second, or sixth child your life changes in tiny ways that you will soon get used to.

Every newborn photographer is different. With some you will bring all your own stuff or you will do the session in your home, so there’s nothing to “bring”. If you do need to bring your own things, you might consider 1-2 outfits, a blanket or swaddle, any lovies, and headbands, bonnets, or hats.

If you are in the Fort Smith, AR area, though, you will find me. I provide everything. The only things you have to bring to your newborn sessions are sentimental items, food (whatever that may look like for baby), and diaper-changing supplies.

I provide outfits, swaddles, bonnets, tieback headbands, posing devices, props, lovies, and blankets or layers for the session.

I also provide a dress for mom(s) if they choose to wear something from my client closet.

If there is a dad involved in the session, he’s on his own outfit wise. Good thing men are easy to dress.

I tell a lot of my clients that if they have anything sentimental, bring it and we will incorporate it. I have had people bring military and police uniforms, IVF props, ultrasound photos, lockets, and more.

I have a certain style in my studio and everything I provide for baby and mama is cohesive with this style.

Now, it differs a bit if we do your session in your home. If it’s at your house I may ask you to choose a couple of my outfits, swaddle colors, and headbands or bonnets for me to bring to you. We will do most of your session lifestyle, but I will bring some supplies of my own to make sure we get some posed and wrapped-up images as well.

And know this.. if we do it in your home.. it’s okay for your house to look like people live there. There is no need to clean your entire house and make it look immaculate for your newborn photographer. Real is okay.

Basically, you provide baby with something to eat when they get tired of modeling and start to get kinda cranky and bring diaper-changing supplies because these sessions aren’t short and accidents WILL happen.
